Message	I don't think you're supposed to do that. When I installed mine I lubed plenty and kind of twisted them slightly back and forth whilst firmly pressing in which worked well. Sounds like your timing belt would be okay though if you counted teeth and checked tension all should be good. Others will be more knowledgeable.
